From a young age, music has been my passion and my solace. One of my most cherished memories is singing in front of my grandfather and seeing him get emotional. That moment taught me the power of music and the importance of singing from the heart. While I love hearing people enjoy my music, the true joy for me lies in the act of creating it. Every note, every melody is a piece of my soul, and I hope to share that with you through my art.
My musical journey is marked by a rich tapestry of influences, ranging from reggae, dubstep, and dancehall to soul, trip-hop, and DnB, extending to the energetic realms of indie, rock, and nu-metal. As Freya Wolf, also known as DubWulf, I honed my craft in piano and vocals, which later flourished in the vibrant theater scene of South Wales. These stage experiences not only showcased my versatility but also ignited my passion for songwriting and live performance, culminating in a memorable appearance at the Sunrise Festival in 2016.
Between 2020 and 2022, my vocal ability shone through as I provided backing vocals for two albums by Tim Bragg in France. My solo endeavors also came to fruition with the release of ‘Just Another Day,’ featuring the guitar work of Marc Ribler on the standout track ‘Red Roses.’ My academic pursuits at Waterbear College of Music have further broadened my artistic scope, nurturing a newfound love for composing music for film and the immersive soundscapes of Dolby ATMOS. Additionally, my voice has graced two drum and bass tracks for Wired Games’ virtual reality game ‘Dig VR.’
In 2023, I embarked on an exciting new venture, DubWulf Productions. This initiative marks a pivotal moment in my career, with plans to release music both as an artist and producer. Through DubWulf Productions, I aim to continue exploring and blending diverse musical genres, always staying true to the heartfelt authenticity that has defined my journey.
Following my debut release on the 15th of November, I will be releasing a track on New Year’s Eve as a vocalist and songwriter in collaboration with music producer Matthew Bowden. “Caged” is a Morcheeba and Portishead inspired track, hauntingly beautiful and powerful, delving into themes of disillusionment and the search for truth. I am also working on a reggae track with Vanessa Vanquis and David Oron from Rotterdam, and will be releasing a track titled “Family” soon (date TBC). “Family” addresses the need to end racial wars and “superficial vanity” in the world, urging us all to work together to find global happiness. Additionally, I am working hard on a new joint business venture, which will be announced next year.
